RH9-Can't read USB thumbdrive?

In my newly installed RH9, when I do
" mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/floppy"

The cursor will move to the next line and keeps blinking.
The thumbdrive is not loaded.

Do this and make sure there is a sda and sda1
fdisk -l /dev/sda
