RH9.0 install - disc 2 media test fails!

I have a recently cleaned out system with WinXP Pro, and I'm trying to install RH9.0. I dled the ISOs and burned the 3 discs, but when I run the media test on them, disc 2 ALWAYS fails. (The other two discs pass.) I've re-dled the disc 2 ISO three times, from two different mirrors, and it passes the md5sum test (as do all of them). I've used both Nero and Roxio ECDC 5, and there was no change between the two. If I try to install anyway, I get as far as a package for a PDF viewer (I can't remember which one, offhand), and it says that I have a missing or corrupted file.

This problem sounds exactly like those that I've found in a handful of other posts, with one notable exception: all the other threads have someone using vmware. I don't really know what vmware is, but I looked up a little bit about it, and it seems to me that I'm definitely NOT using it.

I've dled this file multiple times, burned it at least 4 times, on two different discs, to no avail. All the other threads I've read refer directly to this vmware, and conclude that a problem identical to this is caused ONLY by vmware. Since I'm not using vmware, what could my problem be?

Thanks!

the first thing you need to do is make sure the cds are properly burned... once you are sure, you can even skip the media test...

you've checked that the md5 on the iso image you downloaded is correct...

but you have to also check that the md5 of the cd itself after you burn it is also correct...

the iso on the server, the iso on your computer, and the cd itself have to have the same md5...

this link will show you the way...

I have this problem using vmware version 4, it is fine on atleast 4 other machines without using vmware, but disk 2 always fails when used with vmware 4 on my machine!

I solved my problem by mounting the iso's as cdrom drives. and each time RH asks for the next disk, just edit and change the iso for the drive.

There is nothing wrong with my disk 2 (not any of them as i have done many install and media check is fine in all other cases.

Cheers
