RH 9 Installation: Unable to find CD???
Everything goes just fine: The CD boots, I choose my language and keyboard. But then I'm asked to select the installation source (which obviously should be local CDROM) and after I do, I get the message: "Unable o find Red Hat CD in any local CDROM" or something similar.
I downloaded the .ISOs directly and didn't change them in any way. I burned them (with Nero)... Does anyone know what could be the problem here...?? |
use the media verification routine in the redhat installer and see what it tells you about the disc.
|
i had an issue like this with disc 2 on RH 9 i ended up downloading another copy from a different source and it worked fine. see as panic suggested what the media verification tells you.
|
I'm not sure what is supposed to happen(since this is my first experience with RH), but:
linux mediacheck doesn't seem to do anything other than start the installation... |
does it give you the option to check your disks??
|
Did you verify the MD5 checksums of the ISO image files prior to burning them to disc?
|
Im with misc on this one.
I had this problem about 1 week ago trying my first intall of RH9. Did the Md5 checksum of my ISO and found that disc one was way out. Redownloaded the ISO and the install went flawlessly . |
Quote:
2%==================================================================/- thats the command line version of a progress bar. It takes a while, but if the / on the left of your screen is rotating it's checking. |
Ok, I checked the MD5 sums and none of them were correct... How can this happen??? I downloaded 4 ISOs and every single one of them seems to be corrupted?!?! This was never an issue before and now with RH they're all bad... :(
Btw, it just install and doesn't show any kind of progress bar... |

All were bad?....thats forked up. Did you grab them from the red hat ftp? I'd suggest you try another source for D/Ling them.
