Redhat to Fedora upgrade non-standard procedure
We have Red Hat 7.3 hosts that we have to upgrade to Fedora Core 3. The standard way of upgrading using anaconda installed is time consuming and downtime is important.
If we were to come up with a way whereby all of FC3 would be downloaded to the host (that is already running RH7.3) so that when we reboot it, all that needs to happen is RPM updates, LILO, and the kernel replacement, couldn't that significantly speed up our upgrade procedure to FC3?
If not, is there any other way we can do the upgrades to minimize the downtime ?
BTW - We are doing upgrades over PXE.
Thank you !
