Question redhat enterprise linux 4 AS installtion problem

i am having problems installing RHEL 4 AS on my system. i am getting a message "no hard drives have been found ...." and i'm getting stuck at the partitioning stage itself... my system is an AMD 64 bit, 120 GB sata harddrive, MSI motherboard... i guess it has something to do with harddrive being SATA, but i am not able to find a solution for this. i am unable to find a proper driver disk nor am i able to understand which driver to select from the list given during installtion. i tried a couple of them but i got the message " no drives have been found to install the filesystem ...." and the system rebooted. someone pls help me, as i am really out of options

thanks a million !!!

I had exactly the same problem with Slackware 10.0
Most probably the boot kernel doesn't support your sata controller or sata disks at all.
I have no experience with RHEL but with slackware you have to choose among many different kernels before the actual setup starts.
If you have a choice list all the available kernels of the boot CD and choose one that supports sata disks.
Alternatively you can install on an old ATA disk, then compile a new kernel with sata support directly into the kernel (NOT as a module) and then migrate the system to the sata disk (I have no idea how this happens ). You could even try another distro!
