Cool redhat-config-users bug?

Has anyone had a problem with the redhat-config-users app? (aka System Tools->Users and Groups)

Just the other day, I was configuring some user stuff, and I created a new user, and gave them a default group ID of 100 (ftp on my sys) the app gave me a warning, "We don't recommend giving a default group ID of less than 500" so I thought "I wonder why" I aborted it (clicked cancel) to do a little research before continuing. The "Add new user screen" greyed out, and did nothing. Half an hour later, it was still doing nothing. so I called up my trusty task manager, and killed (-s 9) the offending app. Ever since, I have been unable to run redhat-config-users.

Help! Please, coz redhat site is rubbish, nowhere has got any info, have I missed something glaringly obvious?

Chris

majic, usually on Redhat, the default uid and gid defaualts to 500. <=100 uid and gid are used for administrative accounts, that is why you got that message. You killed the stalled app. which is fine, but now you have to re-start it to use it again.
Hope this helps.

I've never seen this issue, is it reproducable? If so, a bug should be filed in bugzilla.

I don't know if it's reproducable (I don't want to have to rebuild my system all over again!) but if anyone wants to have a go, here's my config:

RH9, with modutils 3, Kernel 2.6.8.1, No KDE, just Gnome.
HDA> 1G Boot, 18G /
HDB> 512Mb Swap, 512Mb /tmp

Procedure to follow:
Start redhat-config-users
Add new user
create home directory /home/user
don't create group for user
Add user to group 100
Click OK
Message box ("We don't recommend giving a user a group ID < 500, do you wish to proceed") click cancel

On my machine, it hung, and if I wasn't in the middle of a project, I'd try and reproduce the prob, as it is, I can use the console tools, and live without the graphical interface for a little while

If anyone else wants to have a go, post your results here
