Redhat 9 halts at init eth0


Hi

I am a newbie and just installed Red Hat 9.
Every time I try to boot up my machine it halts at init eht0.
When I was installing I left it on DHCP auto.

I am running on a Charter Cable modem.

Thanks for any suggestions

hi,
Just check whether ur machine is able to contact ur DHCP server.

When your pc it booting up because you set your ethernet to DHCP it is negotiating with your cable operator a IP addr it may be taking long as the built in FW is not allowing the BOOTP protcol through therefor try enabling BOOTP (port 67 / 68) in your FW settings.
