Redhat 9 & winxp dual boot -xp won't boot
I have 2 HDs. WinXP pro is installed on my c:\ drive and I installed RH9 on my d:\ drive yesterday.
I formatted d:\, but didn't touch c:\. Yet winXP won't boot. When I try to boot it, i get this msg: "Checking IDE-1...OK" XP should load at this point but it doesn't. I haven't backed up my c:\ drive or created a boot disk, and I dont have the original XP cd anymore. Is there anything I can do, or am I just screwed |
you can not install linux on "d:" this makes no sense whatsoever.
please boot to linux and run "fdisk -l" and show us the ENTIRE output, also post the contents of either /boot/grub/grub.conf or /etc/lilo.conf depending on which bootloader you aer trying to use. looks like a windows problem though really, which is really nothign to do with us. |
????? - why not.
Probably a terminology issue. A windows user will see first hard disk as C: and second as D:. I suspect LILO was installed into the MBR - this can get ugly. NT has always been *VERY* particular about boot records - Win200 and XP share the same heritage. We wait for the output requested. |
EDIT: Nevermind, I'm an idiot. Thanks for all the help though. :)
