try it anyways, worst thing that can happen is your windows partition is wiped out... but then again, how bad is that?

Gothmogs 11-03-2003 08:18 PM

hey martinman thanks for your fast reply can u say again please it seems some of your post is missing

thanks

David.

martinman 11-03-2003 09:48 PM

no part of my post is missing. i was saying that you should try it anyways, the method you are using to check the discs may be faulty...or it could be some random bug. who knows! grow some kejones and try it ;)

hehe, that fast reply is courtesy of your "Show posts with no replies" button

Before burning the ISO image onto CD, did you verify its MD5 checksum? Search the forum for discussion on how to do that.

aqoliveira 11-04-2003 09:08 AM

Howzit

When it bombs out can u use the keys Ctrl+Alt+F1 through to F5 if yes it will give information in what part of the install it failed. Post that error found for us to help u futher and try what misc mentioned in the last post.

Is your CD drive connected as master drive to secondary controller? Because that error message suggests that the CD is bad near the end. You may need to burn it correctly in Disk-At-Once mode (or in Track-At-Once mode with padding at the end).

If it is a multi-boot system, you could also put the ISO image files on some FAT16/FAT32 partition and install from hard disk drive.

aqoliveira 11-05-2003 03:23 AM

Howzit

Try what misc mentioned but also try not selecting the xpdf package and see what happens. Also check that u have sifficient space on HDD for the type of install u doing try a minimal install which will normally only use CD#1 then try a custom install.

I have experienced this problem when installing under vmWare 4, I have used the same disk in many machines (non vmware) and the disk is fine (I do complete media checks)..

Are you using vmware by any chance?

If so, just mount the ISO from the host machine as the cdrom drive in vmware : context click on machine in vmware, select edit, choose cdrom drive, choose select iso image (start with iso 1, when it asks for iso 2 go edit it again and continue etc.. works for me every time.)

Good luck..

Gothmogs 11-05-2003 10:07 AM

hi . well thanks for all your input guys .

ok i do use vmWare yes i did have the same prop always same thing on

on the hardwear side so i will let u guys know how it goes :-)

Yes the cd burner is on a secound controoller as master drive so i tride
what u said misc same thing :-( what i going to do is get some new cd

Gothmogs (David),

Like I said, dont use any cd rom drive... MOUNT THE IMAGE FROM YOUR HOST (NOT THE CD, THE ISO) (not shouting, just making sure you see it) Follow my instructions, it will work.. I have had this problem many times, and that solution works!

Good luck..

Gothmogs 11-06-2003 10:03 AM

hey mr_segfault thanks i did your way and it worked like a charm :-)
only thing was no network so no internet connection .
i use the nforce2 ultra 400 chipset so i am going to try install hd again when i burn to new cds i just bought i will let u know how it goes and thanks again.

David.
