Red Hat 9 sound problem

Hi everybody!
I installed Red Hat 9 with Gnome on my computer but I cannot play cds (or every other kind of audio files) neither with cd player or with audio player.
The detection of the sound card goes well, and I'm able to hear the sound test.
Doing sndconfig also works well, I can hear Mr. Torvalds speaking.
Any help?
Thank you very much.
jimmy
