RED HAT 7.3, ext3, kernel upgrade

Linux RED HAT 7.3 kernel 2.4.18-3
case - PROLIANT CL380
file system - ext3
Memory 2GB

When I add second processor, after 5 days Linux get error:

kernel BUG at commit.c:535!

I try to set up new kernel 2.4.20-28.7

I run:

rpm -Uhv modutils-2.4.18-3.7x.i386.rpm

rpm -ivh kernel-2.4.20-28.7.i386.rpm
rpm -ivh kernel-BOOT-2.4.20-28.7.i386.rpm
rpm -ivh kernel-source-2.4.20-28.7.i386.rpm
rpm -ivh kernel-doc-2.4.20-28.7.i386.rpm

After that Linux found ONLY one processor
and ONLY 1Gb memory !!!

What must I do ?

i386 most certainly is the wrong architecture for your hardware as it only supports Intel 80386 compatible CPUs. Look for the i686 kernel-smp package, which supports multiple CPUs.

Also install all errata packages for Red Hat Linux 7.3, which has reached end-of-life long ago, and take a look at http://fedoralegacy.org where they provide additional security updates for Red Hat Linux 7.3, including bug-fixed kernel packages.

I'm sory.
What packages and security updates must I install for Red Hat Linux 7.3?

misc 02-01-2005 10:29 AM

All these
https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/rh73-errata.html

plus these
http://www.fedoralegacy.org/updates/RH7.3/

Pick a nearby mirror server. Red Hat's download servers are mirrored on many servers worldwide.

Fedora Legacy download server also contains all updates and is mirrored, too. Instructions here:
