Rebuilding kernel, /lib/modules/*kernel version* not appearing

i tried to recompile the kernel and /lib/modules/*kernel version* will appear but it didn't.

What I did is, as root

cp /usr/src/linux-2.4.21.47.EL /usr/src/linux-2.4.21.47.ELcustom01

edit Makefile in ELcustom.
VERSION = 2
PATCHLEVEL = 4
SUBLEVEL = 21
EXTRAVERSION = -47.ELcustom01

make mrproper
make menuconfig
make dep
make clean
make bzImage
make modules

by now, there should be a new /lib/modules/*kernel version* but i didn't get it. Where did i go wrong ?

You need a "make modules_install" - in 2.6, just do "make && make modules_install".

argh .... so thats how it's done ...
I will continue on my own from here until i hit something i can't solve ...
Acually I misunderstood the guide i am following ...I though <make module> also covers <make modules_install>.

I will continue to work with grub and see if all these will make ipx work with RHEL ES 3.

Thanks for the help.
