rebuild rpm database


Hi

i accidentally deleted the /var/lib/rpm folder on my RHEL3 how can i rebuild the rpm database?

"rpm --rebuilddb" or "rpm --initdb".

No. When you delete /var/lib/rpm, you cannot restore a deleted RPM database out of thin air. But there are ways to reconstruct it with your most recent list of installed packages in /var/log/rpmpkgs, though you need to do some scripting and spend some time reading "man rpm" for the right options. It's for experienced users only.
