Raid Fails on upgrade

I have Red Hat 8 (2.4.18-14) running with an external fibre channel rack. I currently have all 7 drives configured in a Raid 5 configuration and have no problems. I have tried to upgrade my system to Red Hat 9, Do a clean install of Red Hat 9, and upgrade the Kernel to 2.4.20. All three attempts do not recognize, do not find the drives, and will not boot. The Drives are for extra storage and the system is not installed on them. Why does Red Hat 8 find them so easily, but 9 or the kernel upgrade has no clue? I don't have any error in the logs to share.
