Question Question about permissions!!

I'm running RHEL4 logging as root and when I try to create or edit my personal files which is mounted in /mnt, Error message appears and say that I don't have a permission to write on this destination . I think this is a strange thing!!!

Any help or explain for that ?

My first guess is going to be that the device was mounted -ro, you can right click it>properties>permissions and see if you have rwx. If you prefer cli use the chmod command.

It doesn't make any difference even I edit fstab and mount a partion as rw .

The strange thing is I'm logging as root so I can do any thing on the system without
asking me about permissions.

Plz I want explain for that .
