Angry Python & Up2date

For quite a while now I'm facing some wierd problems with
the up2date service. I keep getting the meesage below:

[12:20 giorgos@anoubis giorgos ]# up2date-nox -u
'import site' failed; use -v for traceback
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/sbin/up2date-nox", line 10, in ?
import sys, os
File "/usr/lib/python2.2/", line 50, in ?
import posixpath
File "/usr/lib/python2.2/", line 14, in ?
import stat
ImportError: No module named stat

I'm running RedHat 9, kernel 2.4.20-19.9
up2date up2date- for the new SSL)
and python-2.2.2-26.

Hmm... I'm not much of a python person, but I think the 'stat' module is /usr/lib/python2.2/ See if it exists and/or run

rpm -V python

to see if anything else is missing. Maybe something happened to that file. You should be able to fix it by getting the python rpm and doing

rpm -Uvh --force --nodeps python-whatever.rpm

That will reinstall python, replacing any missing or corrupted files.

Thanks very much. Problem Solved.
I never thought to verify the package just made a query and saw it was installed. But with rpm -V found out that something had been missing.
