problems installing mysql


Hi all, I have a little problem installing Mysql
I'm installing it according to this page .....

# # tar -xzf mysql-standard-4.0.18-pc-linux-i686.tar.gz
# ...]# mv mysql-standard-4.0.18-pc-linux-i686 /usr/local/
# ...]# cd /usr/local
# /usr/local]# ln -s mysql-standard-4.0.18-pc-linux-i686 mysql
# [establish symbolic link /usr/local/mysql to /usr/local/mysql-standard-4.0.18-pc-linux-i686]
# /usr/local]# cd mysql
# /usr/local/mysql]# groupadd mysql ====> got an error here: bash: groupadd: command not found
# [create new group 'mysql' under /etc/group]
# /usr/local/mysql]# useradd -g mysql mysql ===> same here but user



how it can be done in red hat 9 is it different? oh.! and i'm doing this as root.
I tried out in genome but only worked for group and not user it gets stuck.
:-(

please help..

Unhappy I rather uninstall it

Well my question is still up but I prefer to unistall it and start over but I don't know how to do this, please help me here i'm running out of time, I must install "Koha" to test it before i do it in my college.
I downloaded mysql-max-4.0.18-pc-linux-i686.tar.gz
I followed INSTALL-BINARY directions then directions from this page: http://www.devside.net/web/server/linux/mysql-bin

seems i screwed all out, now i'm confused :-(
