Question Problem with booting in RH9

Hi,

I have installed Linux RH9 on my laptop with Win XP. First i installed Win XP and after Linux. I took all the precatuion before installing except i made linux boot on hda6. But i didn't face any problem in booting the Linux. I installed the Grub loader for dual boot.
I am able to boot Win XP and Linux both very smoothly. I didn't have any problem in booting.
The problem arise after booting. When i boot my system in Linux then it's ask for login and password. But when i am giving root login and password which i have given during installation, it's not accepting. It's again coming onto the previous login screen. I have created one more user during my installation and tried with that also. But the result is same with both the user.
I really appreciate, if somebody can help me out of this problem. Otherwise i am thinking to re-install Linux RH9 or shift to the Mandrake.

Thanks,
Pramod

u can change root password. i know two ways to do that.

first one : boot from redhat cd1 with "linux rescue" option. it will ask u if system partition will be mounted in /mnt/sysimage. choose "yes". after that type "chroot /mnt/sysimage" and type "passwd" to change root password.

second one : u must boot in single mod from bootloader menu. after booting type "passwd".
