Someone on another forum suggested I look at
this post. At first it seemed as if Rick485 might have the answer to my problem. However, after partitioning and formating my drive by hand using a different distribution, I still could not get Fedora to install.
I finally tried the install using the text mode installer instead of the graphical installer and was able to partition and format the drive and finish the install
.
I have come to the conclusion that the problem is not caused by asking the Fedora Installer to format the drive, but something in the installer itself seems to point to an incorrect window designator.
Just in case anyone else runs into this problem, try installing Fedora using the text mode installer and see if that will solve the problem.
