Power Management and keyboard beeps.......

I have 2 questions I hope someone can help..
System Rhel5,

1. How can I turn off system beeps when the keyboard hits certain keystrokes or error strokes? ( I have disabled system beeps in the Sound Preference's and this did not work.)

2. When the user is in a command line windows.. (cntrl+ald+f1). The monitor will shut off after 10 minutes of inactivity. How can I stop this..
I have already turned off the screen saver in x but this has not helped. The monitor continues to go to sleep if not used.

1. You can blacklist the pcspkr module. Edit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist and add the line:
Code:
blacklist pcspkr
2. Run:
Code:
setterm -powersave off -blank 0
To keep the settings on reboot of the box, out the command in /etc/rc.d/rc.local.

Regards

Thank you for your help,

Disabling the power save worked with the setterm command but blacklisting the pcspkr did not work. the keyboard beeps are still occuring..

any other options?

Check with lsmod if the pcspkr is loaded and unload it
Code:
rmmod pcspkr
