let add to this, one the server that works my relay is this
relay=local or here is the log entry
to=<mailbox.user@myserver.work.com>, orig_to=<Mailbox.alias@other.domain.com>, relay=local, delay=0, status=sent (delivered to mailbox)
on the box that gets queued i have this
relay=root@localhost
Apr 17 12:37:12 myserver sendmail[454]: l3HGbCDH000454: from=root, size=5, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<200704171637.l3HGbCDH000454@myserver.work.com>, relay=root@localhost
