poor mpeg quality as compared to windows in redhat
 

hi...

when i am playing and mpeg file. i find that it has less clarity in redhat( i am using gnome) than in windows. Can any settings be changed to make it better?

What version of Redhat are you using and what application. Xine ans Mplayer seem to have very good quality on my Fedora and CentOS systems.

I am using redhat 9, xine v0.9.8, gnome

Try using version 1.0 of xine and installing win32 codecs. I don't know if it'll resolve your problem, but it's worth a try. You can try the packages from the xine nightly builds page, or from freshrpms.
