Packages not showing for update while running yum update

Hello All,

I am using Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.10 (Tikanga) and I have some of the package update missing.

When I try to use yum install, those packages did not show in the list, but when I try to manually update those packages I am able to do it.

I wonder why these packages are not showing while running yum install.

The missing updates are for pango version 1.14.9 cups and many other packages.

Im not sure I understand your problem.

Are you not able to do:

yum install packageXYZ

But you can dl the package and install it with RPM:

rpm -ivh pacakgeXYZ

If so that is just an issue with your repository not having the package in it. If this is not what is happening please provide more detail maybe with some sample output from the command line with the errors.

so a GUESS

you have incompatible repos enabled and did not post that error

please post the FULL errors you are getting
and
post the output of
