package mixing


i have some doubts. is it possible to use rpm packages of FC1 & FC2 in Redhat 9? if its possible do i need to do some changes to redhat 9 to allow the acceptance of those rpm packages?

Most of them should work fine. Depends on which one. Any in particular you are worried about? There's only like 3000 of them. ;|

ok. so is it possible to use the newer kernel of FC2 in FC1 and redhat 9. well i tried using FC2 kernel in FC1 but during the boot the whole process just stops there. freezed and nothing happened. so i was just wondering will there be compatibility issues rising as a result of using packages of FC2 or FC1.

Sounds like a kernel thing to me. And of course kernel is all about hardware, so don't preclude the possibility that you've got hardware that it doesn't like. I'm afraid I may not be much more help.. .I've never gotten my hands dirty with the kernel. What ships with it is fine with me.
