"Other ports" not available in Security Level configuration tool

Several on-line books show "Other ports" which allows you to
add ports for additonal services in the Security Level configuration
tool of Red Hat 9.
Strange enough this entry field is completely missing in my Security
Level configuration tool.
Even after upgrading the kernel from 2.4-20-8 to 2.4.20-30.9 and upgrading
all available application the problem persists.
How to solve this problem ???

Its most likely not a kernel feature but more of a application issue in which you might have a version that they are not using in the book you are following along with.

Can I suggest just learning iptables which the app is just a frontend to anyways.. ;)

Try lokkit. It has the extra field to add other ports.

The "other ports" option was available in the security level GUI of Redhat 8.0 but was dropped in 9.0 (my guess is the online books showed an image of the older 8.0 version). Using the commandline to add an iptables rule is another option as well.
