Oracle for Redhat Linux Enterprise 4 ?

I have recently installed Redhat Linux Enterprise AS version 4. Then, I came to the website of Oracle to download the newest version of Oracle for Linux x86.

However, when I install Oracle, the installer inform me of the wrong version of Linux. It only accepts version 3 or 2.1.

Please you tell me how to overcome the situation and when Oracle has the version for Redhat Linux Enterprise AS version 4.

Thank you.

You need to download the 2.4 Elorafw1 kernel or Elorafw kernel. Install that and that should be fine.

Elorafw

I download kernel-smp-2.4.21-27.0.2.ELorafw1.i686.rpm then use rpm -ivh --force kernel-smp-2.4.21-27.0.2.ELorafw1.i686.rpm.
However, there is an error:
error: Failed dependencies:
kernel < 0:2.6 conflicts with udev-039-10.8.EL4.i386
I think that your way does not work.

I present my problem again:
My computer is IBM xseries 250 with quad-CPU (4 Pentium3 ).
I installed Redhat Linux Enterprise AS Version 4.0. Next I installed Oracle 10g Release 1 (10.1.0.3) for Linux x86. However, the installer inform me of the wrong version of Linux. It only accepts version 3 or 2.1.

Contact Oracle. That is a problem with their installer, not with Red Hat. RHEL 3 or 2.1 software will run on RHEL 4 99% of the time. There is probably a workaround. Maybe try editing your /etc/redhat-release file and adding a second line specifying version 3 and see if that helps.
