Not able to launch a 32 bit java installer in 64 bit centos 6.2

Hi,

So I have a 64 bit centos 6.2 and when trying to install an Arcsigt application, the GUI of the installer fails to launch. This is the error I get:

Graphical installers are not supported by the VM. The console mode will be used instead...

I have no problem doing the installation on console, but am guessing the gui of the application won't launch after the installation.

By googling and stuff, I kind of figured thats this is related to java. The installer uses 32 bit java environment and my OS is 64 bit. I tried to install both libraries, but I guess haven't installed enough. Thats the brief summary.

I posted this in newbie section already, with lot more outputs, since this section is distro specific thought I would post it here too, to get more help. Here is the link for original thread http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-6-2-a-936146/ Please help.

Thanks :)

Is the VM in Java? The VM is bellyaching. Go figure.

as far as I know its not related to VM, and I didn't have any problems when I worked on VM someone else setup.

If I could figure, Why would I post here

The way I read that, the vm won't do graphical. So we are going console.

I never needed a graphical install for java. Exactly what version of whose Java are you installing? Does it come as a tar? Can you cd into the directory and post the output of 'ls'

Oh no, I am not installing java, installing Arcsight , and the graphical installer needs java to run. (32 bit java specifically) and the OS is 64 bit.

I was able to solve this problem in ubuntu by downloading ia32bitlibs.

I proceeded with the installation in console mode and got stuck with this error midway: Could not initialize class java.awt.Toolkit

Thanks
