No module aic7xxx found for kernel 2.4.23

How do I get past this error?

No module aic7xxx found for kernel 2.4.23
mkinitrd failed

I'm trying to get a DWL-122 to work, it's the only item preventing me
from dropping XP.

Thanks

Some help.
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ht=DWL1+driver
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/

aic7xxx is the module for an Adaptec SCSI controller and not for the wireless card. Is this a seperate problem?

Thanks for your reply.

I'm using a fresh RH9 install onto a SCSI drive. (XP is on IDE, I toggle the BIOS to switch between the two because of XP MBR issues)

I found and am following this to hopefully configure and install the 2.4.23 kernel to support a DWL-122:

http://julian.coccia.com/blog/index.php?p=53&more=1

I didn't notice the above error the first time around, and received the following error when attempting to boot the new kernel:

booting command-list
root (hd0,0)
Filesystem is extfs,partition type 0x83
Kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.23 ro root=LABEL =/ hdc=ide-scsi
Error 15: File not found

My thought is once I get the kernel setup correctly, I'll use wlan-ng or ndiswrapper for the DWL-122.

I'm going to go through the links you've posted and see where I end up.

Thanks for your help.

Ok, the ndiswrapper needs kernel "at least 2.6.6 or 2.4.26", so I was heading down a rat hole. I'm downloading 2.6.6 right now, I'll try again and hopefully the aic7xxx issue will magically cure itself.

[root@localhost linux]# sh /usr/src/linux-2.6.6/arch/i386/boot/install.sh 2.6.6 arch/i386/boot/bzImage System.map
No module aic7xxx found for kernel 2.6.6
mkinitrd failed

Ok, I'm not getting something set correctly when I configure the kernel via "make menuconfig".

Help?

I switched to Fedora 3. Now I can focus on the DWL-122 stuff.
