since i've installed rh9.b on my pc i can't hear sound coming out from the cd player. even thoug i can listen to system sound when i insert an audio cd the player starts normally but no sounds come out.
what can i do?
first, you must make sure that all your hardware haven't any problem.
second, you can type "setup" at the command line. I am sure that there is a choice to configure you soundcard in RH8, you can try it.But I don't is there a same choice in RH9?
use this cmd to configure u´re card and test the sound redhat-config-sound. Also do a lsmod and lspci to see if u´re sound card appears or not. Then try u´re mixer settings to see if it´s muted or not.
I have RedHat-9 , and P- iv mother board,(845 glad) sound card built in. I have same problem .
I installed RH-8 and sucees fully played music and movie on same MBoard,
But Rh-9 , atleast in my case does not give proper out put.
It tests sound card succes fully, gives sounds of system settings. But when u go to play back any song or movie it simply mutes. I have installed three times RH-9 .In all cases it responds in same way.One message I got ,every first time I tried to play music or vidio- is that Audia/Vidio support is not present in this version.
???????????????????????????????????????????????????
If any body got the way out pls let me know tooo.
God bless u
This same problem would happen to me several times on my laptop.
Since at the time I was a newbie I simply reinstalled redhat and that would fix it most of the time. It probally has happened to me 4 or 5 times. I still have no idea why though
My sound would come out garbled and my screen would flicker
I had a neomagic 256 soundcard
This happens to me; I insert the CD and CD Player opens and CD starts but no sound. So I tried Grip, no sound. So I tried VideoLAN and got sound. Went back to CD Player and sound worked and Grip worked also. I removed the CD and reinserted it; CD player opened and the sound came forth. Rebooted, no change. Turned off and repowered and had to repeat the procedure from the beginning to get sound. Very confusing. Maybe our problems are somehow connected.
hello , i am having probs with rh 8.0 audio. mine is an onboard VIA VT8235 soundcard which is detected by rh 8.0 but my audio device cannot be used. Maybe I don't have my drivers installed for AC'97 . I went to www.viarena.com and got the audio drivers , but it contained only the driver file and nothing else, no help , no install rpm , nothing. how do i install the audio drivers. PLease help me out. I wish to play songs on my linux edition. reply soon.
