need to check the current kernel .config file

hi there, I'm relatively new to Linux [using RH 9.0] & are trying to set up mkcdrec to back up a sendmail server. The instructions for mkcdrec say to "Check current kernel [to see] if the following items were compiled into the kernel. Check file /usr/src/linux/.config"
I dont seem to be able to locate the file in question...
There is a /usr/src/redhat directory but no .config file.

any help would be appreciated,

Thanks.
