Need a document or a URL for an RHL-9.0 Hardware Compatibility List

I have to port a driver to RHL-9.0 and I need to know what chipsets/systems are supported by this release.

I would appreciate any information that the group might have.

you have to port software to a DEAD and unsupported version of red hat
designed for hardware built before the year 2000
Basically for windows98 era hardware

-- you do not ---

you install new hardware

so what WAS ( yes past tenths ) chipsets/systems are( WERE- past tenths )supported by this release.
the UNSUPPORTED RH9
ran on PRE-2000 / 2003 hardware

BUT
rh9 is dead and unsupported -
DO NOT USE IT !!!!

It seems that the Intel 845G is one of the pieces of hardware that will do the job for what I need to do.
I sympathize with your position but there are extenuating circumstances. It is not exactly Redhat 9 that I have to use but the kernel it is built on which is 2.4.20.

Many users standardized on older releases such as this one and have a large amount of money and time invested in getting regulatory approvals for their products. If they move to a newer release it can cost lots of $ to recertify. Therefore, when certain pieces of hardware go end-of-life it is cheaper to backport drivers for existing drivers to an earlier kernel than do a completely new product.

Hence my request.

you can ask red hat
but seeing as rh9 and the 2.4 kernel are both unsupported , they might not be able to help
the last 2.4 kernel 2.4.31 came out in 2005 and the 2.4.20 in 2002
most hardware built before 2002 should work
mind you the 2.4.20 kernel is vulnerable to everything that HAS BEEN FIXED in the last 10 years

make 100% sure your liability insurance is paid up - you might NEED it .

The latest supported OS with kernel 2.4 is Slackware 11. AFAIK.
( kernel 2.4.33.3 )

Release : 2006. Latest update(s) : April 2012.
