Mouse will not work after X crash on CentOS 6

Hi all!
I have 3 CentOS servers connected to a KVM switch so I can use 1 keyboard/mouse/monitor for all 3. I replaced the monitor on the switch while everything was still up an running. I then toggled between the 3 servers on the KVM. 2 worked fine, when I got to 3, the display became garbled then went black. I ssh'd into the server and killed Xorg which promptly restarted. KVM toggle back to problem server and display appears fine but the mouse will not work. Keyboard is OK.
Tried killing Xorg again from ssh but still same problem: OK display, no mouse functionality.
Don't know what to do next. Any help is appreciated! Oh, problem server is CentOS 6, other 2 are 5 and 6.
Thanks!

is the "not working right" cent server fully updated ?
CentOS 6.3 is current

and is it the same version that the working one is

a reboot might be in order
and not just a restart of X11

Thanks for the quick reply!
I thought about re-booting but I was hoping to avoid it. The problem server is handling email for my office so I'll have to wait a few hours before I can re-boot without causing too much anxiety among my users. I'll let you know what happens.

have u tried switch to init 3 then switch back?

So I did try the init 3 then back. No change. Then I did a full re-boot and now I get no GUI at all, although Xorg appears to be running. There is something else very wrong here. I'm thinking of removing the GUI entirely then re-installing.
