I am struggling to get the vmttools installed on the VMs. I can mount the cd rom but get the following error when trying to extract the tar file.
root@xxxx~# tar zxpf /mnt/vmwaretools-9.4.5-173405.tar.gz
tar (child):/mnt/vmwaretools-9.4.5-173405.tar.gz:Cannot open:No such file or directory
tar (child): Error is not recoverable:exiting now
tar: child returned status Z
Tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
Shot in the dark, but we had problems trying to install from a (local) CD drive mounted to the VM through VMWare. In the end we had to mount the ISO to the VM, and that worked. It gave similar errors.
