memory usages

How can I find the exact ammount of memory is being used by a particular process ?
I need to know how much memory is used by Firefox.
I can see the percentage of memory being used, through the "top" command. But I need to know in the exact size.

If firefox is running as process 2345, do this:

Code:
cat /proc/2345/maps
Hope this helps.

Hmm, I need to do some reading on understanding that one. However, my way is this:

Code:
ps -eo rss,args | grep <PID of the process>
-twantrd

smaps is the way to go - except for the information overload. rss allocation has always been subject to debate - especially where shared libraries are concerned; and firefox will have a few of those.
There is a smaps module up on CPAN if you're into perl.
