Well I had to reinstall Win98 in my system which had dual booting earlier through GRUB but after the reinstallation only windows is loading...... I have a bootable floppy but it loads only the default Redhat I need the other custom kernels But I am now not able to access them......

Can anyone tell me how to get back my old grub or how to reinstall it...... As i have much info in it.....

boot from the floppy and then, when you have access to your linux system, simply reinstall grub..

installing windows almost always destroys other installations' bootloaders it's commong knowledge. to avoid this, grub ought to be installed into a partition and not in MBR, and when installing windows, set the active partition to where windows is (otherwise active partition is where grub resides). this makes windows overwrite only itself and MBR, but leave the grub-partition alone..after it's done, simply switch the active partition from windows to grub's partition, and linux works again. simple

so you can still get into redhat? in that case once you're booted to it, run "grub" and install it into the MBR as described here:

New probs

Really Gr8, the link to grub installer it worked out in a jiffy and has given me back my old GRUB and a few new probs.......

The grub is back but the peculiar prob i am now facing is that my mouse and keyboard have stoped working... and i am not able to login at GUI.....(RH9)

Is it bcoz i left 2 configs of mouses... like in kernel 2.6 it identifies my mouse as 2 button but kernel2.4(default) as the correct 3 button... but i have kept both configs so is it a probs........

please reply..........
