We have linux server RH 3.6(32-bit)and planning to Upgrade it to RH 3.9 (64-bit). Oracle 9i database (9.2.0.7) is currently running on the server. After the OS upgrage do we need to re-install oracle. Please help me.

Help you with what?? You don't say what problems/error(s) you're getting.

If you don't know how to upgrade the system, and are uncomfortable doing it, I'd suggest hiring a consultant. If you're getting errors, please post them, and tell us what you've done/tried, and we can try to help.

Also, RH3.9 is VERY old, as is Oracle 9i. I would get a fresh copy of the latest RHEL and Oracle, do clean installations, and migrate your database over to something that's current and supported. Right now, you're in a totally unsupported configuration.

Make sure that you understand that RH3.9 and RHEL3.9 are two different OSes. RH3.9 lost support before 2000, RHEL3.9 came out in 2007(?). So if you are really running RH3.9, TBone is correct and you should update to a current (supported) version. Even if you are running RHEL3.X you may want to consider switching to a newer version. RHEL3.X hits EOL(End Of Life) on October 31, 2010 (roughly a year from now). Do you really want to go through all that setup and then have to do it again in about a year? If you upgrade to RHEL5.4 you will have support until March 31, 2014 (and with the delays to RHEL6, probably longer).

Thx for the inputs. Currently OS is RHEL 3.6 and one oracle database 9.2.0.7 is running. Application team wants to upgrade the OS to RHEL 3.9
Being an Oracle dba i want to know after this OS upgrade will there be any need to do oracle installation again

I have passed your inputs to our team and we are waiting for their confirmation.

Probably, as you are going from 32bit to 64bit.
