Do you mean that the computer hangs on boot up with the letters "LIL" on the screen?

a one-second google search for "lilo error lil" got me this:
http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Bootdisk-HOWTO/a1483.html
that says:
LIL = The second stage boot loader has been started, but it can't load the descriptor table from the map file. This is typically caused by a media failure or by a geometry mismatch.

google's your buddy...

there are better posts on search to help you.

If rh has a rescue option on their cd ( i use Mdk) then when it loads to rescue, mount your partitions and issue command
/sbin/lilo

hopefully that puts lilo back
