Is Up2date Broke?

This week my attempts to use up2date for RedHat 9 have been met with the following response. Is this an example of the new and improved RedHat forcing users to Fedora, or is it just me. My Demo service is still supposed to be active.

Error Message:
Demo service for server 1003613280 limited due to high load
Error Class Code: 51
Error Class Info:
Demo service currently disabled due to high load. If you would like
to see Red Hat's policies on Demo service, or find out how you can
purchase a subscription service and receive priority download access,
please go to http://rhn.redhat.com/preview/index.pxt

No, it was always like this. If you pay them they give you higher priority than if you use the demo account.

You could look for the rpms at a mirror ftp site. They can be a bit slow with getting the latest upgrades but are often quicker than waiting for the rush to die down at redhat's servers.

I'm getting away from Redhat for reasons like up2date requiring weekly surveys and stuff.

In the meantime, to update my redhat boxes, I'm using apt-get, which is a lot nicer IMO.

You can likely find the apt-get RPMs on freshrpms.net
