RHEL is a commercial product comming under open source, if i download RHEL through torrents and use it in a proffesinal enviroment will it be illegal???
Downloading commercial software through unauthorized channels is almost certainly piracy. If you are downloading an authorized copy of RH, ie, via one of their official mirrors, you have nothing to worry about, but if you are downloading a copy from a random site of unknown pedigree, you could be in the wrong. My advice would be to check with Redhat if you have questions
red hat linux is open source. they are not selling the software, they are selling support. they would be sued if they tried to sell the software, as it is the work of a lot of people other than red hat. can you legally download and use it from torrents, i'm not sure, but you won't get updates even so--that DOES require support purchase. it is my interpretation of the rules that you can use it no matter what, but i wouldn't put my job/company on the line when there are other options.
