installing a font in system

hi all
my system is redhat 9.

i am not satify with the fonts of system redhat9
i want to install a new font that does not exist in the redhat9 distribution .
my destination is to display item of this font when i selet a font from a GUI program , e.g. Mozilla browser

The Fedora Core release notes give a nice concise explanation of font installation. I think that RH 9 uses the old "core fonts" system exclusively.
