Pity that you still bugged by this problem. Keep on trying.
One thing on my mind. Have you tried to use any livecd distro like Knoppix to login to linux and then mount your RH9 partition ?
May be then you can chroot into RH9 system and reinstall your GRUB bootloader.
Just another path you could explore
Hi d4d4n9,

Yeah, it's a pain, but on the bright side I'm learning about boot loaders, MBRs, and soon Knoppix, thanks.

In the mean time, I've tried another route, because I'd also like to network 3 PCs with different OSes - I bought 2 inexpensive generic PCs and tried to install RH9 on one and Solaris 9 on the other, but problems again. I get a monitor "FREQ - OUT OF RANGE" for RH9, that I didn't get on a previous HP a405n installation. How can it not recognize the same monitor?

[Update] Installed Red Hat 9 but Lost Win XP

Not sure if anybody is interested, but I found that Debian and Red Hat will report the hard disc geometry different than Mandrake, Suse and Novell.

I would appreciate any feedback by e-mail.
