Installation CD's not found!!

Hi everybody!

I got Red Hat 9 from a friend and went to my house to install it.
I inserted the first CD but didn't boot from the CD Rom, so I created the boot disk with rawwrite and entered to the installation program.
When the programs ask for the images I select "Local CD Rom" but I got this message:

"The Red Hat Linux CD was not found in any of your CD ROM drives. Please insert the Red Hat Linux CD and press OK to retry"

After that, I copied the first CD with Easy CD Creator but didn't work.

I know that CD's are not empty because I can browse the CD's in Mandrake and Windows.

What's wrong with the CD's?
What's wrong with my computer/CD Rom?
Is there a way to install Red Hat from a terminal in Mandrake?
Is my friend cheating me?

Thank you!!

Is this a retail copy of Redhat or an iso image?

Assuming it's a legitimate cd, go into your bios and choose cdrom as the first boot device. Then just use the Redhat cd #1.

It's an iso image.

My CD Rom is my first boot device.

I boot with the boot disc I created with rawwrite. I enter to the installation program but it's not capable of read my CD's, that's why it can't boot from CD Rom.
If I boot with Windows or Mandrake, I can view the contents of the CD's.

Thanks!!

I also had the same problem ,,,,

--just make sure those redhat cd's are burned or downloaded correctly
--the cd rom you have may not be supported or needs some drivers disk in order to boot the redhat cd

i still did not get the solution for this problem so i switched to mandrake 8.0

Redhat needs to be burnt at the slowest possible speed. On Nero 5, for me that is 4X. Mandrake had no problem being burnt at the default. But there is some sort of check run on the Redhat CD's when they boot and if it's burnt too fast, errors creep in and prevent the CD from running.

I'm sure there exceptions, but I run a Plextor, and CD/RW's don't get much better than that.
