Install missing package for RHEL 6.5 (No Subscription)
Hello all
I downloaded RHEL 6.5 from Redhat but I want to save money and so did not subscribe to RHN.
I installed what I wanted but I could not find 3 packages.
They are:
a) perl-XML-Simple
b) xerces-c
c) java-1.7.0-oracle
Unless you PAY FOR RHEL, you WILL NOT get updates/patches/bugfixes/security fixes, and installing ANYTHING will be much more difficult. And shoving things in from source does two things:
It makes your system MUCH harder to maintain, since you will then have to keep track of, install, and test every update/fix manually.
It may very well make your system unstable, since the package(s) you're installing won't be certified to work with the OS
RHEL self-support is $99 per year. If this is for your company, then pay for it. If it's not, or you don't want to, stop where you are and load CentOS instead.
if you are using redhat and NOT paying for it , then NONE!!!!! of the solutions will work
we will tell you to use "yum"
it WILL NOT WORK
so you will NOT be able to fix anything
BUY the required support contract or install CentOS
In regards to $99 self support, it is actually for workstation while I am looking for Enterprise edition.
According to my research, you will need to submit all your proof to Redhat that you are purely using it for testing or development purposes before they will grant you the cheaper Enterprise self support or else it will be close to $1,000 per annum.
