Install libmysqlclient.a

Hi,

I installed mysql-devel using yum but don't see the static library libmysqlclient.a.

$ uname -a
Linux host.com 2.6.32-279.5.2.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Aug 14 11:36:39 EDT 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

$ locate libmysqlclient
/usr/lib64/mysql/libmysqlclient.so
/usr/lib64/mysql/libmysqlclient.so.16
/usr/lib64/mysql/libmysqlclient.so.16.0.0
/usr/lib64/mysql/libmysqlclient_r.so
/usr/lib64/mysql/libmysqlclient_r.so.16
/usr/lib64/mysql/libmysqlclient_r.so.16.0.0

Please advise on how I could get libmysqlclient.a installed.

Thanks,

Sujeeva

Unless you are building a static application,
a "cheat libmysqlclient.a" may work :

cd /usr/lib64/mysql/
# ln -s libmysqlclient.so.16.0.0 libmysqlclient.a

Thanks for the quick response. Dynamically linking the libraries worked.
