identify usb drive
Hi, I am running Centos 5 and have scheduled a cron job to back up files to a usb stick. At this point I can only see the drive as /media/Lexar. That is, the drive is identified by the name of the usb stick I attach. Obviously I want this to be common to any USB stick.
Can I identify a generic name for the USB port? |
You want to be able to back up to any usb stick attached - but what if there is more than one?
Anyway, what you want to look at is the udev rules. Also look in the /media to see if your stick is mounted more generically. Whatch what happens when you mount a different stick. |
