How to enable REXEC on RHEL4/5

First of all I am aware that commands like rexec are obsolete due to their security issues. In my case that does not apply and I need it anyway.

I have enabled rexec in /etc/xinet.d/rexec

Then I restarted xinetd and enabled rexec with chkconfig rexec on.

From remote I test the settings with:

Code:
telnet 192.168.6.66 512
Trying 192.168.6.66...
Connected to hostname (192.168.6.66).
Escape character is '^]'.
Where are you?
Connection closed by foreign host.
So I think the service is running correctly. But commands issued with rexec from remote are not executed.

Code:
$ rexec 192.168.6.66 -l root ls
Password:
<hangs>
Any clues? Am I missing something?

I found the solution. The setup is correct but there needs to be a proper dns name for the client.
