How to do SATA Disk I/O Performance Tuning

Dear Linux Experts & Gurus around the world,

I am using Oracle Linux 5.8 64Bit (RHEL5.8 64bit)
and I am facing disk IO slow performance with SATA Disks & USB Disks on Oracle Linux 5.8 64Bit.

Same SATA disk does not have any IO Slow Performance issue with
RHEL5.8 32bit OS. It is very good performance in RHEL 32Bit.

Please help me to tune up IO Performance for SATA Disks in OEL5.8(RHEL5.8) 64Bit OS.

Thanks & Regards,

Prabhakar.D

How do the values look like between the two systems + did you benchmark them on the same HW (I mean the PC/server/controller etc... and as well the disks) + how did you benchmark them + is the RHEL5.8 32bit as well a OEL release as the 64bit you're referring to?
