how to configure the nis server


I intall linux 4.0 AS in SATA harddisk which is XP os also. at that time it shows no hard drive found
i installed that
at BOOT: linux all-gerneric-ide noapic nolapic
it is installed and after rebooting
mkrootdev: label /1 not found
mount: error 2 mounting ext3
mount: error 2 mounting none
switch root: mount failled: 22
umount /initrd/dev failed: 2
it showed kernel panic not sys

I would suggest that you create a new thread to get better exposure for your problem. Responding to a old thread(3 years old) will not get you as much response.

What is the linux 4.0?

You should provide information in a way we can understand therefore help you. What distribution? The error that you presented looks like a boot from a install cd. You are passing kernel parameters that don't look right as for spelling of the 'all-generic-ide'.

Please provide detailed (cut/paste) information or redirect output to a file that you can post for us. Generalizing will not help us too help you.

hello sir
iam working as faculty of RHEL5 for the examination practice
i have to configure the nis server
please send me hoe to configure the nis userver
my server ipadd 192.168.0.254
server name server1.example.com
my clients is station1 to station20
please send me messege to configure the nis server and how to
communicate with nis server
