how to apply patch


hi

am using centos 4.5 i ahve kernel 2.6.9.55-EL i have downloaded this patch routes-2.6.9-11.diff now how to apply this patch i dont want to update my kernel i want the patch to be applied to my default kernel how do i do it?

When i run this command

patch -p1 <routes-2.6.9-11.diff from /usr/src it asks me to specify the files cuz it isnt able to find /linux directory

help help

If it's a kernel patch you will need to download the kernel source first, then apply the patch and then compile and install it.


i dont want to update my kernel
Any compelling reasons why not?

never mind now i installed latest kernel
