how can i tell if 32-bit or 64-bit RH is installed


is there an easy way to find out if 32-bit or 64-bit RH is installed on a server?

Issue a uname -m from the command line and it should report something like x86_64 or ppc64 for 64 bit versions.

Can we know it using # cat /proc/cpuinfo ?

Nope, because a 32-bit kernel/OS will run on a 64-bit system so the info from the command 'cat /proc/cpuinfo' does not mean anything in this regards.

Hi,

Use below mentioned command to know 32 bit or 64 bit OS (kernel)

root:~# getconf LONG_BIT
